Frances Haugen, a Facebook whistleblower who shared a trove of Facebook documents alleging the social media giant knew its products were fueling hate and harming children’s mental health, revealed her identity Sunday in a televised interview on 60 Minutes and accused the company of choosing “profit over safety.” Haugen revealed internal papers proving that Facebook is lying about making progress against hate, violence and misinformation – which brings them more profits. Here are a couple of key quotes from the interview:

“The thing I saw at Facebook over and over again was there were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook. And Facebook, over and over again, chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more money.” ~ Frances Haugen

“The version of Facebook that exists today is tearing our societies apart and causing ethnic violence around the world.” ~ Frances Haugen
